Restylane Injections at Wall Medi-Spa

Shreveport Medi-Spa Specialists – 318-221-1629

Similar to Juvederm, Restylane is a hyaluronic acid-based facial filler that is used to smooth wrinkles in the face area. Restylane is most often used in the cheeks and lips.

What is Restylane?

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the connective tissues of the body, including collagen, the connective tissue that provides plumpness and volume to the skin. As we age, the body produces less collagen, and we lose that plumpness. Additionally, the skin becomes less elastic as we get older, creating areas of loose and folded skin.

The hyaluronic acid contained in a Restylane injection will cling to the skin and the water inside the acid will add volume. This water will also naturally attract more water, preserving the volume added by the injection.

Restylane Treatments

Restylane can be used for multiple purposes, including:

  • Lip enhancement
  • Targeting lines around the mouth
  • Adding volume to the cheeks
  • Minimizing dark circles under the eyes

Because Restylane is a simple procedure with quick recovery time, almost anyone is eligible to receive it.

How Much Does Restylane Cost?

The costs of a Restylane treatment vary largely depending on the number of syringes needed. A single syringe of Restylane hovers around $275, and an entire Restylane procedure will usually fall between $275 and $700. It is not usually covered by health insurance since it is a cosmetic enhancement procedure.

Restylane Procedure

Restylane is a fairly common procedure with minimal side effects. It has been approved by the FDA since 2003, though it is not approved for anyone under the age of 21.

For at least two weeks leading up to your procedure, you will need to avoid:

  • Aspirin
  • Vitamin E
  • Ibuprofen
  • St. John’s wort

Avoiding these things can help reduce bruising from Restylane treatments. You can also take arnica, which can be found at most drugstores and health food stores, before and after the procedure. This will also help minimize bruising.

This procedure is usually performed in your doctor’s office. It is minimally invasive and does not involve any incisions. Local anesthesia will most likely be used to minimize discomfort. Depending on the number of injections you are receiving, this procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour.

The steps of the procedure include:

  • Your doctor will choose the injection sites and clean these areas with antiseptic
  • Your doctor will determine how much Restylane is needed
  • The Restylane will be injected under the skin with a very small needle

sAny procedure has potential risks and side effects, even minimally invasive procedures like Restylane. Potential risks include:

  • Bruising or bleeding at the injection site
  • Infection
  • Allergic reaction
  • Irregularities in the filling
  • Swelling
  • Bruising

These side effects will typically resolve themselves in 7 to 18 days. If you are required to take blood-thinning medications for health reasons, you should avoid Restylane.

Healing time varies with each person, and also depending on how many injections you received. Bruising, redness, and swelling is to be expected, and will usually resolve itself within a week. You should limit sun exposure for at least 24 hours.

You will be able to return to work soon after, but if you’ve had quite a few injections, it may be prudent to give yourself some time to rest and recover.

Full results of the Restylane treatments usually become apparent within a week, but there will be immediate results directly after the injection.

It is also important to remember that Restylane is not permanent, and you may need more rounds of injections later. However, Restylane will typically last between 6 and 18 months.
